Are We Backwards?
I proclaim that change never occurs, because WE don’t let it. It’s not that THEY wont allow it, or they’re hindering us.
What really defined this difference for me was when I wrote a piece on an upcoming protest and hungerstrike outside of Senator McCain’s offices - and I get 132 hits on that.
YET - I make this skimpy, half-assed article about direct action Anarchists and I get 2385 hits.
Really, we should be focusing less on fetishising what we’d all like to do in some part of ourselves, and focus instead on what we’re capable of. Like.. performing a hunger-strike in demand of truth. How come we’re not celebrating that? How come we don’t yell it from the hills and the rooftops and the pulpits “THE PEOPLE ARE REVOLTING! Solidarity!”?
It all makes sense once we get down to the fact that most people who dream of change in this world would never let REAL CHANGE happen. I know this because I was once in the “rebel” game for sex, for respect, and for “individuality”. I know this, because I too was addicted to coffee, tea, sugar, chocolate, consumer products, retail therapy etc. I broke those bonds lately. And am now working on dropping smoking. And this is hard work. Being a real rebel is tough, because you’re not changing the outside world. You’re changing yourself.
And really.. that’s where change begins and ends: With YOU
Most of us are too psychotically married to the Freudian Daddy Archetype, that we have invented an antithesis to “Daddy”; thinking we’re evolving. Working outside of the box. Living for ourselves. When really, we’re living to hate Daddy.
Anyone out there who considers themselves a rebel would do well to reintroduce themselves to their fathers. Accept them. And you’d find, there’s nothing to rebel against.
But rather… something to change. Something to overcome.
“They” do not enslave us. Our mentality does. The mentality of fear. I can list right now what stops a person from crossing the line from Daddy’s pet to Daddy’s equal.
- Fear of the unknown - This is the fear of conspiracy. Where everyone has a conspiracy in the works. Sinister motives. This comes from a lack of understanding a person’s personal story. We tend to forget that people go through experiences very similar to ours. We’d punish them for what we’re too conservative to do.
- Pseudo-Science generates fear - The belief that there is an evil presence within certain people that are the cause of all social ills and as a result, a utopian society would be impossible. Same as the first statement really; but we fear putting in effort and it being “stolen” by the lazy. Well, I’ve got news for you. Your effort IS stolen by the lazy. Yes, by the unemployed, the disabled and the depressed: But mostly the rich who own the factories you work in, the banks you use, and the stores you buy your food from.
- Addiction - Due to the wide-spread depression that the word “pandemic” fails to describe, we are given a certain number of chemical and psychological addictions. We are given coffee, chocolate, cocaine (a lá CIA), TV, stimulants, food colourings, food additives. Cures of diseases and symptoms we’re convinced can only be acquired via the desecration foreign lands and chemical processing.
- Fetishised Dependance - More and more, as television and other forms of mass-media dictate what we know, our minds are more occupied by what we see most of there: Entertainment. We can remember the name of actor a, b, c, d. We may know what drugs they died taking, who the father of their child was, or the songs these things have sung. But less and less of us know how to make a meal from scratch (by that I mean, with veggies and meat. BASICS). And we enjoy our spoiled lifestyles of fast food, ready-made meals, pre-packaged sandwiches and instant coffee. ITS GREAT!
- Fear of being alone - We don’t cross the line, to change society and ourselves mostly for this reason. We feel that either 1) We think we’re the only ones who feel unnatural and/or 2) We fear being the minority.
This is what our forum is for. And what this blog is for. - Nowhere to turn - The above block, facilitates this one. I’ve made these statements in a specific order. These symptoms and blockages are like donimos. You take out the first one, the rest fall too.
We all think there’s nowhere else to turn. We can’t fully escape. Because we can’t leave our jobs. That means we can’t mentor our children and be with them as they grow up. Means we only have time for a quick meal if it’s a busy day.
This might just be a fact… because I’ve yet to find a commune I can go live on.But again.. that’s what our forum is here for. To help people organize an alternative.
There’s no doubt in my mind.. this blog post will be largely ignored like the post declaring the protest and hunger strike. But I’m staying optimistic here.

I really enjoyed this article, you’re absolutely right about the paralyzing effects of fear. I’m trying to make these changes myself, it’s a difficult change though.
Well said, man!
o_O You liked?
I’m glad someone did.
Fear is the mindkiller. It will take time to escape. I know I’m working on my fears right now too.
Just keep exploring it. You can do it.
Hunger strikes are the ultimate narcissistic effort. A man like Ghandi made it work by brilliant marketing and a reputation. A blog entry threatening to forgo Frappucinos and Sconces just cannot focus the will of the people quite the same.
I wish you luck in your endeavors. Can I have your food?
“A blog entry threatening to forgo Frappucinos and Sconces just cannot focus the will of the people quite the same.”
hahahaha! omg! That is a fucking classic.
It’s going in my signature on the forum for sure.
Please throw away the Freudian shit.
Also, there is nothing bad in the idea of ready-made food. In every society there are cooks. Why should everyone spend precious time doing things that can be done on the larger scale. That is, like cooking?
I don’t know sir.
Can you tell me what the benefits are?
Now, you wanted Freud, you have him
